Speaking Bottom-up Strategies


Botton up speaking process involves in understanding the spoken discourse, botton up refers to the use of the incoming input as the basis for getting the message and it involves sounds, words, sentences, intonation, decoding,  such as basic units of sounds, words, or grammar and of course comprehension. 

Activity

The main focus should be on language that your students can use quickly for their purposes rather than on too much grammar explanation or on words that are not directly useful. Here are some simple sentences that can be learn very early in a course so that the students can use them straight away:

What's your name?  My name is______________

Where are you from? I come from_____________

Where do you live in? I live in________________

What do you like to do after school? I like to ______________

What is your favorite food?   My favorite food is_____________
